
The portrait of Tamara Popova, Feshin’s student at the Kazan Art School, stands in the series of female images of 1917, in which the tendencies towards sophistication, mannerism, “Mademoiselle Girmond”, “The Lady with a Cigarette,” a portrait of Masha Bystrova, “The Young Woman” portrait Litvin.
Heroines portraits resemble bright exotic birds, and the colors of these works poured like precious stones. Fractional wide strokes fill the plane of the canvas, like a mosaic, but the shape does not flatten out and does not dissolve, but, on the contrary, it acquires density and volume. The coloristic tasks in these works are valuable. The artist fills the entire canvas, using the minimum amount of colors, he creates complex color combinations, revealing more shades of gray. The purity and flow of color, its glow make the picture a jewel.
