Lovely picture, more like not finished “canvas”, but for an instant scene, peeped in the keyhole and then, at the well, sketched in a notebook.
The artist was very vividly able to convey the “obscure yearning” of the young characters. The girl looks thoughtfully at the notes, the young man obligingly turns over the pages to her, but the viewer realizes that these two are not interested in the notes on the music stand, – absolutely different music sounds in their hearts.
