On a dark background in a dark dress, the Madonna is sitting on the throne, holding the Infant in her arms. His hand touches the hands of a beautiful woman in a royal dress and hands that engagement ring. To the left of Madonna with stern faces sit Saint Mary Magdalene and Saint Barbara, they were present at the mystical engagement. On the left in the prayer posture is a canon from Bruges, the donor of this work.
The theme of Christ and the Eucharist is emphasized by the growing vines along the garden walls.
