This work of the artist is filled with a feeling of happiness, youth and freedom. The plot is simple, easy and understandable, it is devoid of all sorts of complexities and deep meanings. Before us is a young man engaged in his favorite work. Dovecote is the favorite fun of not only Moscow boys, but also of adults. Entertainment is typical of natures romantic and energetic.

The author has created a picture revealing the image of a dovecote – a strong, ingenuous, open-minded young guy. Only a few details – an embossed front tooth, a pectoral cross on his chest, and disheveled brown hair – say much more about the hero than long stories. Before us is undoubtedly a kind, sociable young man, an emotional and explosive temperament. He confidently rests on the roof of a pigeon’s house. The look of the dovecote is turned high in the sky, where a flock of pigeons circle.

Man’s eternal dream of flying in this gaze, light envy and unlimited happiness. Everything suggests that the subject of the image was youth and happiness. It can be seen that the dovecote is equipped with love for pets, even a curtain is provided. The pigeons themselves, written by the author accurately and competently, are absolutely not afraid of a person, it is clear that they used to trust their master and never saw any evil from him. Sunlight floods the roof of the house, the blue summer sky takes almost half of the composition.

The whole composition of the picture is directed upwards. Skillfully combining summer, light and calm colors, the play of light and shade, the author filled his work with extraordinary warmth and vitality. The viewer is infected with positive energy and completely childish delight, reigning in the work of the master of genre painting.
