The painting “Flemish landscape with Willem Morel Hans Memling” by American artist Guy Johnson is based on the works of the famous Dutch artist Memling, combining in his work the features of late Gothic and Renaissance art, everyday, lyrical interpretation of religious subjects and soft contemplation.
Harmonious construction of the composition is combined with the desire to idealize the images, the canonization of the techniques of Old-Dutch painting. Rare in the art of the Netherlands image of a naked female body in full size and accurate in reconstructing the appearance of the model, portraits are distinguished by the elongation of proportions, the elegance of linear rhythms, the festive color.
