Family of satire. Engraving by Albrecht Durer

In the 1500s, Durer’s work was a turning point. The pathos and drama of the early works were replaced by balance and harmony. The role of a calm narrative, imbued with lyrical emotions, increased.

The artist studied the proportions, worked on the problem of the image of a naked body. In his works on mythological themes, especially in the engraving on copper “Adam and Eve” Dürer strove to embody the classical ideal of beauty.

The volume of a round, almost sculptural form is emphasized as if gliding along the surface across the structure of the form with rounded strokes. In the picturesquely treated forest landscape, the figures of people and animals embodying various symbols are organically included.
