Michael Whelan graduated from the College of Art in Denver, later in 1973 the University of San Jose. The following year, Whelan exhibited his works at the World Con 1974 festival and soon received a contract with DAW Books. The irreproachable sense of color and proportion, the subtle individuality of the artist’s handwriting contributed to the growth of the popularity of Michael Whelan’s work.

And courage and honor are portrayed in the form of beautiful, proud men and women; Harsh times, honest beautiful people are depicted against the background of the winter landscape.
