The car and airplane were the dreams of humanity, therefore, it is not surprising that the inventive Leonardo should devote himself to this problem. His airplanes underwent several stages of developmental development.
The machine illustrated here was meant to be powered by the muscle of a man standing upright. He had to move the wings that fought crosswise, up and down like the wings of a bird. If it were built, the machine would be so heavy that it would not be possible to fly. Leonardo recognized this problem and tried to reduce weight using lighter materials
