Winter Landscape by Caspar David Friedrich

Winter Landscape by Caspar David Friedrich

This picture Friedrich sent, among others, to the exhibition in Weimar at the end of 1811. She has a pair job under the same name, which depicts a lame young man walking along a dark, snow-covered forest. From our “Winter Landscape” you can understand that the purpose of such a difficult path was the crucifixion. The young man reached him. And not only did I get – but also received a miraculous cure.

In the background, through the snow haze, the outlines of the Gothic cathedral appear, and this time we see in front of us not ruins, as in many other Friedrich paintings, but a grand building, timeless house of the Lord. Church spiers are gently illuminated by the pinkish light of the dawn, which symbolizes the endless love of Christ for all who resort to Him, and Divine love, capable of dispelling any darkness and warming into the most severe cold.
