“Walk” was written in Moscow, when Fedotov received leave, for the first time in three years of service. In fact, this is not a walk, but a family portrait, the characters of which simply pose against the backdrop of the Moscow street and do not even try to show that they are going somewhere; it was for this reason that it was written to leave it at home, in Moscow, as a reminder of itself and a pledge of future prosperity.
