Travelers by Pavel Nikonov

Since the time of the “severe style” the pictorial style of P. F. Nikonov has undergone significant changes. His later paintings are associative and metaphorical in nature.

The space and time in which the person is placed is intentionally vague, and this gives the plot a parable color. Not recognizing the formal semantic framework, the artist creates a dynamic space of a lasting “path” in which a person is an eternal wanderer.

The work belongs to the “village” cycle and is characterized by sharp dramatic pathos, which gives the activity of the social position of the “sixties”. PF Nikonov retained the desire for truth, to show life with “open and confessional frankness.”
