Correggio constantly pushes the viewer with a hurricane of passion. Especially it is noticeable in the picture of Esse Homo, where the figure of Christ is portrayed somewhat unnaturally and detached, but absolutely stunningly written is Maria, losing consciousness, torn by the conflicting feelings of soldiers and the old Jew continues to reason. Their large contrast faces appear on an abstract proscenium, completely devoid of depth, in front of an invisible and innumerable audience, including us, the spectators.
