This panel shows the actual decorative generosity of the color palette. It depicts a building, razed to the volumes and edges in the spirit of cubofuturism. They are laid out on a plane and filled with bright hues in Lentaulov, due to which the picture acquires twice the sonority.
The famous St. Basil’s Cathedral, located in Moscow on Red Square, turns out to be located on the plane of the canvas in the manner of cubo-futurists. It is in full view – with its “dancing” domes, which are covered with stars and patterns, it has zakomars decorated with petals and ornaments, with arcades, windows, and platbands covered with rich paintings. At first glance, this “education” is piled up, it is covered by the dynamics of growth of education and is likened to a fairy-tale mirage, which constantly fluctuates and changes. But the plot of the canvas has its own logic and figurative meaning.
It seems that the artist argues with the creators of the temple of V. the Blessed and seeks to transform it into a patterned, intricate and at the same time solemn structure, into a kind of areal miracle, into a certain symbol of Russia.
Primitivist theatricalization, fairground entertainment, and sound associations through rhythmically organized form shifts are involved in creating such an image.
