“Night Watch” is one of the outstanding paintings of world history of art. Her 28 characters explored thousands of times, studied for many years. Its copies were preserved before the damage, the scientists tried to explain the inexplicable effect of the movement that Rembrandt created.
The artist described the moment when the captain received an order to move on, but his subordinates probably did not yet exist. The tension that arose between moving and standing characters creates incredible magnetism.
It seems that if you look at the picture for a few more moments, the captain and the lieutenant will go on, and their subordinates, hesitating a second, will follow them. The mysterious light that illuminates the figure of a girl with a chicken in her hands, the architecture of the buildings against a dark background are perfectly executed.
