
Ivan Ivanovich Baryatinsky – the son of the famous diplomat I. S. Baryatinsky. At one time, a well-known angloman and agronomist, a large landowner. He was Russian ambassador at the court of the King of Bavaria in Munich. He was married to the German Countess Maria Keller and lived with her all his life.
After his recall from Bavaria, he settled in his estate, the village of Ivanovo, in the center of his vast possessions. For the rest of his life, he devoted the device of estates and the application in practice of agronomic knowledge. In his beloved Ivanovsky, he built a magnificent palace, named after his wife Marin, where wealth organically combined with a refined taste.
Baryatinsky had his own theater and orchestra. He was very fond of music, arranged concerts on his estate. Baryatinsky was distinguished by his wit, sometimes quite caustic. He was a prominent man, tall, slim, with regular features, with shortly cropped hair with a gray hair.
