This is one of the earliest works of Borovikovsky – a portrait of Olga Kuzminichna Filippova. The artist painted the young wife of his friend, the architect P. S. Filippov, whom he called the closest person to himself. The fact that this is really an early work of the artist, says and some uncertainty of the brush and the lack of established pictorial techniques.
Nevertheless, Borovikovsky’s personality is already felt in the general decision of the portrait. Filippova is depicted in a white morning dress while walking in the park. Her face is calm and thoughtful, the look is full of soft kindness. Before us is a woman far from the worldly bustle, living in seclusion, in an atmosphere of “quiet joys” of rural life. A free, picturesque manner, an easy sketch, a combination of light muffled tones correspond to the mood of calm contemplation.
