In the summer of 1835 K. Bryullov goes with the historical and artistic expedition of VP Orlov-Davydov to Greece and Turkey for the subsequent illustration of “Travel Notes”, and then – to Turkey, to Smyrna, Constantinople.
On the right below the signature: K. Bryullov 1835 Constantinople. On the back of the edging is the inscription: Captain I of rank Kostetsky, commander of the ship on which Bryullov sailed to Constantinople.
