Men’s bath. Engraving by Albrecht Durer

Upon his return from Venice, Durer created engravings on copper and wood. These engravings reveal a brilliant galaxy of graphic works by Durer, one of the greatest masters of engraving in the world art.

The artist is now fluent in the cutter, applying a sharp, angular and nervous stroke, through which twisty, strained contours are created, the shape is plastically sculpted, light and shadow are transmitted, space is built. The texture of these prints with their finest transitions of silvery tones differs surprising beauty and variety.
