Painting by the Dutch artist Joachim Eytewal “The Cook”. The size of the picture is 103 x 72 cm, canvas, oil. In the first half of the 17th century in Holland, quite a large part of the artists turned to a still-life, to the creation of paintings depicting meat, fish and fruit shops.
The fashion included monumental canvases of large format with pictures of game, fruits, flowers and vegetables placed on tables or counters. Chanting the richness of nature and the abundance of the gifts of the earth, the painters lovingly transferred the form, texture and color of objects, combining them into luxurious decorative compositions.
This picture by the artist Eyteval “The Cook” is perhaps a rather rare painting of the genre and themes of the still life in the work of the Dutch painter.
