Bellerophon on Pegasus by Giovanni Battista Tiepolo

Bellerophon on Pegasus by Giovanni Battista Tiepolo

Very often, in his frescoes, Teplolo depicted figures of characters taken from ancient myths. In addition, he wrote a huge number of paintings depicting scenes of the ancient world.

This intensity is explained by the fact that historical and mythological subjects were in great demand from aristocratic buyers and customers.

Tiepolo wrote these scenes in a talented, bright, juicy manner, equipping them with precisely noted details. One of the most favorite classical themes of the artist was the love story of Antony and Cleopatra – it is illustrated, in particular, by the painting “The Departure of Cleopatra” from the palace of Labia. On the ceiling of the same room is depicted “Bellerophon on Pegasus.”
