In his foreign trips, the artist devoted considerable time to sketches from nature. An example of this can serve as “Aya-Sofia”, where the monumental interior of the Byzantine cathedral in Constantinople is reproduced.
It is felt that AM Gerasimov graduated from the architectural department of the Moscow School of Painting: he is accurate in the transfer of forms and details of construction.
