One of the artistic techniques of the master of magical realism, the artist Michael Parkes, is the depiction of the characters of the painting on a high cliff, as in the painting Athena.
It creates a sense of danger in the seemingly serene plot of the painting. The mighty horse froze on the edge of the cliff, Athena looks down fearfully, but the goddess Aditi with an outspread wing guards them from harm.
