“The Triumph of David” refers to the period of Poussin’s work, when he was formed as an artist of classicism and was greatly influenced by Titian. This picture is an allegory. We see a young David leaning on the sword of the defeated Goliath. Near the shell and shield of the giant, and his head, hung by a strand of hair.
Winged Glory is preparing to crown the young man with a laurel wreath, surrounded by little angels. The picture is solved in a rich, coldish color scale, the composition is strictly symmetrical.
