In the center of the composition is a dome-shaped cinnabar-fiery cloud, in which the prophet Elijah is depicted, standing in a chariot drawn by horses.
In the right upper corner, where the chariot rushes, in the segment of the celestial sphere, the blessing hand of God is depicted, with the inscription: IS HS. The left edge of the fiery cloud is held by Archangel Michael.
Below to the left is the prophet Elisha, seizing the edge of Elijah’s mercy. The icon is a monument of Novgorod painting of the second half of the 15th century. It has high artistic value, iconographic interest and museum value.
