The second episode of the series is portrayed by the morning of the young, completely uninterested in each other. The suit of a freshly baked husband and his hat indicate that he spent the night outside the house, unlike a young wife who, apparently, just got up. The confusion in the room indicates the nature of the celebration that took place the day before.
From the room leaves the manager of the estate, in whose hand there is a pack of unpaid bills and only one paid, lonely dangling on the peg for stringing receipts. Fallen into apathy the owner does not notice that out of his pocket sticks out a lady’s cap, which the dog is vividly interested in. The decoration of the room, as always, vividly comments on what is happening: above the fireplace hangs a picture depicting the Amur among the ruins.
The artist pokes fun at the manners of the newly-born countess: he drinks coffee, as a real noble lady, and at the same time is vulgarly stretched. It should be noted that the artist rather ridicules the situation, rather than the people who are in it. A young couple appears as a victim of immorality, reigning in society, and causes the viewer not mockery, but sympathy.
