One of the numerous images of the Virgin Mary in the works of Dali, although here it is seen the least clearly. This oil painting on canvas was finished in 1958. As in the later work “The Portrait of My Deceased Brother”, the artist forms an image using dots. The technique that El Salvador applied in this case is borrowed from the field of polygraphy. This work demonstrates that Dali was ahead of his time, using optical illusion and an ironic approach to the subject of the image.
