Antonis van Dyck portrays a lot of people of the royal family, but, capturing them in solemn poses, tried to convey the inner world of the depicted people. Characteristic to many of the paintings of this artist, the format, stretched vertically, emphasizes the majesty and at the same time the refinement of the depicted woman. Margarita’s white, as if porcelain, skin is shaded with a dark dress, and her beautiful head, neck and arms with long fingers, looking through velvet fabric, look even more elegant because of the magnificence of the apparel.
The canvas is sustained in several colors – white, black, light brown, corporeal, this restrained color is animated by the red drapery on the left, which has been pushed aside and slightly revealing. Roses in the hand of a girl can symbolize love or emphasize her youth and attractiveness, which are especially visible even in the front portrait.
