
Rimsky-Korsakov, the son of State Chancellor Mikhail Andreevich – General of Infantry. Participated in the second Turkish war.
In 1793 he was under the Count d’Artois, then he was a volunteer in the Austrian army of Prince of Coburg, who acted against France; in 1796, he participated in the campaign of Zubov to Persia. In 1799, R. commanded the Russian detachment in Switzerland, but failed; Massena defeated him at Zurich.
Emperor Paul set him aside from the service and removed him to the village, but Alexander I again accepted him into the service. He ruled the Belarusian provinces, in 1805 he was appointed corps commander, commanded a reserve army on our western borders, from 1806 to 1808 he was a military governor in Vilna and commander of troops in the western gubernias, in 1812 – 30 he again managed the Lithuanian provinces.
In 1830 he was appointed a member of the State Council. He had three sons Nikolay, Vladimir, and Michael.
