In the picture of Michael Whelan “Peace” depicts a fantastic landscape with a waterfall. Flowing streams of water, far away – the blazing city, on the edge of the cliff sits a thoughtful girl – a mysterious inhabitant of another world, a snail that left its shell.

Michael Whelan writes with fascination surrealistic pictures and landscapes. His works are filled with symbols, passing from painting to painting and being a kind of author’s sign. A whole series of paintings is based on the interpretation of the shell of the snail. Almost in all the paintings there is the symbolism of eternity: the vast expanses of the ocean, silver moonlight, the silent greatness of the mountains.

Each picture of Michael Whelan forces the viewer to stare intently, solving the author’s meaning, trying on his own perception of the world, but he never leaves indifferent.
