The painting “The Meeting of Mary and Elizabeth”, acquired by the Louvre in 1812, is quite large in size, very typical for the creativity of Ghirlandaio. Its composition is symmetrical.
The center is the figures of Mary and Elizabeth. Their faces are accurate and truthful in their characteristics. The juicy color of the first plan is, as it were, contrasted with the almost graphical urban landscape seen in the arch over the central figures.
