Disappearing images by Salvador Dali

Metamorphoses in the work of Dali in 1938 “Disappearing images” – a characteristic element of the paintings of the second half of the author’s creative path.

The mesmerizing “plasticine”, with which the artist worked, turned the plot of the canvases into a layered pie. Sour, sweet, and in the depths the sugary smack of veiled eroticism was present in every image. Surrealism – the calling card of his talent – gradually began to contain in the images of Dali images of people closest to reality. These are echoes of academicism, the ones that Elvira has tried to display in some places.

In “Images” the author has surpassed his inquiring talent erotomaniac. Here there is warmth and negative female breasts with a blue halo, embodied in a piece of self-portrait with a magnificent mustache, then turning into an image of the first plan. A woman with a letter in the hands of the curtains froze in a blue-pale spot. Her fingers are strings. Profile erased, schematically indicating a neat head with a ponytail. Thin phalanxes of twisted fingers squeeze a piece of paper – a soft piece, a blue sprout, part of a branch…

Plasticity touched every stroke, resembling a room of a madman with a soft upholstery – so malleable and wadded. The work is written dry, almost monotonous colors in the cold temperature of the shadows. Despite the abundance of semi-darkness with an admixture of soot and ultramarine, the picture can not be called icy in tone. An admixture of pink shades, for example, in a corner under a geographical map, refreshed the twilight. Dali’s technique in “Disappearing Images”, as always, is impeccable. There are no rough strokes, broken layers. The oil lies smoothly, like a thick piece of bread. Only the shadow behind the woman’s back, she’s the shadow of the profile, is prescribed by the “hedgehog” of delicate strokes.

The chess floor is the only detail with a clear outline and straight lines. He pierces the blue of the work with clear black windows and contrasting white tiles. The board is empty, the game is played, and maybe there will be a rematch in response to the lines from the letter. Three images, three parts of the whole, one can not live without the other in Dali’s canvas. They are like the common walls in a large apartment, like the walls of honeycomb – are indestructible and integral.
