“Astral-paranoid image” – the work of the surrealist Salvador Dali from the first steps of creation was torn to pieces, which had no roots and meaning. It was created by the master during the period of criticism of his work and the attribution of many works to the cartoon, on the eve of a quarrel with the world of the Surrealists and the birth of his famous statement: “Surrealism is me”. The proposed “image” of Dali can be divided into several hypostases. These are separate figures interspersed in a canvas accidentally in a chaotic order – then appearing, then crystallizing in the background in a mirage.
Attention attracts different characters character, and moreover, their belonging to different epochs and estates. On the mirage and the presence of witchcraft hints the shell-shell, Dali thrown somehow ridiculously to the fore. And everywhere sand, sand… Painting, proposed by the author in the “Astral-paranoid image”, as always fresh on the paint and airy. It resembles a very dry watercolor, flows from golden ocher to bleached azure without a hint of fatty oil. The stunning technique and possession of the pigment always characterized the Dalian talent.
Despite the violet horizon, the picture of Salvador simply burns with heat and a hot plane. Contrasting short shadows speak of a solar disk at the zenith in a cloudless sky. A warm palette and practically empty land near the edge of an endless weightless sea wake up thirst and desire to get drunk.
The expanse of the outgoing horizon distracts from small people, turning them into bothersome “flies” glued to the impeccable cleanliness of the landscape. This is Dali’s surrealism and his paranoia, a splash of children’s phobias and fears on the plane, which alone understood the author’s sick imagination. And maybe it’s a narcotic dream of the artist? Although he considered himself a drug, arguing that “Dali is a drug, without which you can not do without…”.
