
The fresco depicts a miracle with a newborn baby who spoke to justify his mother, accused of adultery. It is one of the three compositions of Titian dedicated to the miracles of St. Anthony of Padua and written by him in the premises of Scuola at the church of St. Antonia in Padua. These murals are the first documented works of Titian.
The earliest document refers to December 1, 1510, when Titian received part of the established fee; subsequent payments date back to 1511. December 2, 1511 Titian received in Venice the final calculation for the work
