Painting by Swiss artist Angelica Kaufman “King Ferdinand IV with his family”. The size of the picture is 72 x 99 cm, canvas, oil. The full name of the picture is “Ferdinand IV, King of Naples, with his family in the bosom of nature.” The Count of Liechtenstein, one of Austria’s oldest families, has been known since the beginning of the 12th century.
In 1618, the family received a princely dignity, and in 1699 Prince John-Adam-Andrei Lichtenstein bought Imperial lords Vaduz and Schellenberg from the counts of Hohenems. After his death, in 1712, the seigneur passed into a kindred kin; in 1719 the Emperor Charles VI granted the principality of Liechtenstein the title of imperial.
