According to the biblical story, God wanted to experience the power of the faith of Abraham and ordered him to bring his beloved son Isaac “for a burnt offering” “in the land of Moriah”, “on one of the mountains”. Abraham did not hesitate to obey.
On the third day of the journey, Abraham and Isaac went to the place indicated by God. When he came to the place, Abraham “made an altar,” tied Isaac, “laid him on the altar over firewood,” and already raised a knife over him when the angel called to him from heaven: Abraham! Abraham! … do not raise your hand to the child and do nothing over it, for now I know that you are afraid of God and did not spare your son, your only one, for Me. Instead of Isaac, a ram was sacrificed, and the Lord swore: Blessing I will bless you and multiply I will multiply your seed, like the stars of heaven and like sand on the seashore; and your seed shall possess the cities of its enemies; and in your seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice.
