The Beginning of Music by Samuel Galberg

The Beginning of Music by Samuel Galberg

Having lived eleven years in Rome, the sculptor performed a whole series of statues on the themes of ancient mythology, in the work on which his creative method was finally formed.

The statue “The Beginning of Music” fully reflects the artist’s inner world, whose work is of an emphatically chamber nature.

A significant feature of the sculpture of Halberg – his inherent skill in transferring the internal state of the characters in action. The theme is solved in almost genre terms. Faun, represented in the image of a beautiful naked young man, listens to the wind that shakes a reed, and in the minds of a fantastic forest creature the first musical melody arises on earth.

The sculptor gave the face of a fa-vou the expression of inspiration and accentuated his passionate emotional tension in his posture.
