Alphonse Dade was a French novel author. Being a close friend of Emile Zola, Gustave Flaubert and Edmond Goncourt, he belonged to the school of naturalist writers.

In 1867, Dade married Julia Alyar, who was a French poetess and essay writer. She published “Impressions de nature etd’art”, “L’Enfance d’une Parisienne” and several other literary studies under the pseudonym Karl Steen.
