Moonlight night in Crimea by Ivan Aivazovsky

A fascinating southern landscape, almost tangible feeling of a warm moonlit night on the beach. In the foreground there is a thicket of trees, a high pyramidal poplar. A little further away is a white house with a gazebo, a gate that faces directly to the beach. A mountain grows in the distance like a dark block. And a huge sky, covered with light, feathery clouds, and in the center – a huge bright moon, like a burning lantern lights everything around.

The lunar path passes to the very shore, illuminating a light ripple on a calm sea, sailboats gliding along the water. So the words from a long-old song say: “… The moon, the moon, shines above the tender shore, but the sea, and the sea kisses with the moon…”
