Hunting Trophies by Claude Monet

In 1862, Monet created one of his most realistic works – “Hunting trophies”. Written according to classical canons, it was approved by critics and was accepted by the official Salon.

The picture is made in brown and red accents, it is difficult to guess the brush of a future impressionist who repeatedly shocks the audience, who are used to classical art, with shades of blue, yellow and green. In the work, however, there is a barely perceptible attempt to capture the light, noticeable in the writing of the plumage of birds.

“Hunting trophies” and in fact show the amazing skill of the author, if we take into account that Monet was very young. However, the confidence of the composition and the boldness of the interaction of textures show that Monet already knew how to demonstrate his own independence from the objects of his admiration.
