Holland Tulips by Claude Monet

Holland Tulips by Claude Monet

The writing of the painting “Tulips of Holland” was completed by Claude Monet in 1872, some time after his visit to Holland, which struck him with the beauty of its nature, of which the famous tulips are a huge part. Everything he saw impressed the artist so much that he certainly took up painting a picture so as not to forget any important detail and share the most colorful emotions with the viewer.

Monet embodied his vision of the beauty of tulips in the next canvas. The artist wrote not one, but a whole series of paintings depicting a field of tulips, he often wrote a series of paintings, but in most cases they differed from each other by the time of day in the composition or by large time intervals, and this time the paintings differ only from the angle from which the artist depicted a field.

Most of the picture is occupied by a multitude of fields dotted with blooming tulips of various colors. In the middle of the field stands a large massive mill, next to which there are two small houses, in one of which, perhaps, the owner of the mill lives. This picture is quite symbolic, all the objects depicted in it symbolize the Netherlands. Mills and tulip fields have long been considered symbols of this place.

In this landscape, the viewer will find a huge variety of different colors and shades, which show not only the wealth of colors of tulips, but also the natural diversity in general. Monet, as always, tried to portray the landscape as natural as possible, so that the viewer could feel transferred to this landscape and get the wonderful impression that lay in the artist’s soul.

The artist attached to the creation of this picture all his inherent diligence, seriousness and interest. Proof of this is this is by no means a small canvas, made with great diligence. There is no doubt that before choosing a good angle for this landscape, the artist had not once examined it from all sides, despite the size of the field. Monet spent a lot of time and effort to portray important places for him in the pictures, but now it can be done with the help of a camera.
