Students and followers of Sünse continued to search creatively for the teacher, trying to approach the actor more and more, and more specifically to convey his appearance. Katsukawa Sjunko, for example, made the first breast portraits of actors on fans and posters, and Katsukawa Xunai performed chest composite portraits on large sheets. China Sigamas was the founder of the Kitao School.

It is characterized by the desire to convey the similarity in the portraits of famous beauties. The works of Kitao Shigamas are not without reason considered an example of good taste in the art of “Ukiyo-e”. His heroines are unusually exquisite, their costumes are draped with noble folds, the overall composition is always “tied” in a whimsical knot of lines and contours.
